Help with Alienware Aurora R4
My Aurora was bought back in 2013, I have no warranty, I need at least to know if anyone else has had or knows what this problem is. I left my computer on overnight, I have done this many times and never had problems, but this time I was awakened by the fans running at full speed. Tired I simply cut the computer off. I wake up the next morning and every time I try to turn it on the fan runs at full speed and nothing happens, monitor, keyboard, mouse, nothing. So I unplug the rig, hold down the power button to do the thingy, sorry forgot what it was called. This time it turns on for a split second then shuts off. I know its not the power supply cause I tested it. I tried doing the cmos reset thing and nothing. Anyone please before I take it to anyone I would atleast like to know what is wrong. Thanks in advance.

Hello,
It sounds like a possible motherboard failure. Try the following steps below:
(1) Turn off the computer.
(2) Remove all the external peripherals like a mouse, headset, keyboard, flash drive, etc.
(3) Press and hold the power button for 1 minute which releases the static on the computer (if any).
(4) Connect everything again including the power cable.
(5) Now try turning on the computer.
(6) If the computer still doesn’t turn on you may follow the next step:
(7) Ensure the power cable is plugged in to the PSU and just press the button near the LED on the PSU.
(8) If the LED glows solid green then the PSU is good.
(9) If the LED does not glow then disconnect all devices from the PSU and run the self-test again. If the test still fails the PSU could be faulty but if the test passes at this stage the PSU is good and troubleshooting should continue by isolating individual devices.
(10) You may also try connecting a known good monitor to check if it works on an external monitor.
If you have already tried all of this and the same thing happens, you could also remove the ram and try to turn it on without any ram modules inside the computer. The system should beep twice if it doesn't detect any ram. If it does not beep and continues to do the same thing, this would be another way of confirming that the motherboard could very well have a problem.

Okay I have tried all of that, the PSU is solid green so it's not that, but when i removed the ram and tried to turn it on there were no beeps. Thank you for replying, I wish I knew exactly what was wrong but I'm guessing ill have to get a new motherboard.

Hello,
Thank you for confirming this. It certainly appears to be a motherboard failure. We recommend replacing the motherboard. Let us know if you have any questions.
