I bet you found a lot of hits/links searching this problem. I don't know why, but sound on BioShock-1 has always been an issue on all machines over the years since released.

I assume sound in other games are all working? I assume you have tried all the different settings in BioShock (think keep it simple/basic). Is there anything unique about your Alpha sound-system config?

Now-days, there are at least 3 different versions floating around, and that might explain why it works fine on some machines and not others.

Which one are you running? Retail DVD, Steam, or Non-DRM (like from Humble-Bundle).

He's not asking about your computer. He's asking where did you get Bioshsock or what version (Steam, non-DRM, or the other one) of Bioshock you have.

Plug in a Mic. It's a common problem with BioShock

Hi,

I had the same issue, and i fixed it by finding the bioshock exe file

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\bioshock\Builds\Release\Bioshock.exe" possibly

, right clicking and click properties.  Then change the compatibility mode to windows vista.  Then double click on the exe to run it.  That should do the trick.

Thank you everyone for your replys, I have been busy with with work so this is the first I could get back. But I still have not fixed my game. I did as KM here suggested and my game would no longer load at all. I switched it back to windows 8 and it once again, would not run. I'm going to re install and hope I can atleast run it without sound again. I still haven't found a mic to plug in, all the ones I have at home aren't usb, and that's the only plug ins that come with the alpha. For the record, I bought bioshock from the steam workshop. Any help is appreciated immensely. Thank you

HI, I've been looking everywhere for answers,  I got bioshock to work on mine by using xp service pack 3 but only from the desktop. This fixed sound issue, however my question is how do I get it to work from the kodi steam interface? I changed the compatibility on the .exe  steam file but when I do a game search it does not find the game, i can go to steam on kodi but it's back to no sound and no saved games, seems the only way to launch is from desktop or the steam link on desktop which defeats the purpose of hivemind quick links..
