Help with factory restore from Image

Hello everyone, I'm having some issues with my Alienware m17x R4 and I would like to restore it to the factory state.

However, when I try to do that through the windows 8.1 environment (swipe at the right, click on settings, change PC settings, etc...) I receive this messages:

"Could not find the recovery environment"

"Insert your recovery media, and restart with the media" (something like that)

I also cannot access it from the restart (that blue UI). I believe that I still have my recovery image, as you can see on the image

How should I proceed? Please help me as I'm having quite a lot of trouble with my windows (Freeze at the startup screen, icons not displaying, cant open CMD as admin and some others)

Thanks in advance!

Did you try the AlienRespawn yet?

Yes, I have. This is what happens when I try:

Apparently, I cannot select the Factory Image (or it is already selected as default). Then when I click on Restart -> Ok, my notebook restart but then boots up normally on windows.

Is there anything that I'm doing wrong?

EDIT: Has my Factory Image have been overwritten with my actual system image by any chance?! (check date)

Its possible there is a glitch.. Try creating a recovery bootable disc or USB stick using the Alienware Respawn software and see if it will even do that?

Alien Respawn told me that an image was created... Will try booting from the USB and will be back with results ASAP.

Thanks for the idea!

OK, so your USB has the alienware respawn on it? if so it looks like it never booted from it.  What I would do is put the USB stick in, then reboot the machine and hit F12 rapidly until you get a screen that allows you to highlight and boot from the USB stick.  Basically you want to be able to boot from the USB because it will have your factory restore image on it and since your HDD image is corrupt it will replace it.  If your USB somehow does not have an appropriate Alienware Respawn on it, you will have to order restore discs from Dell..

That black image that I just posted actually is the USB Booting... Went in F12, chose USB and then got that screen...

I will try ordering the media, however I live in Brazil :(

Do you know if there is anything else I might try, or a chance to get that media as a download?!

Thanks a lot!

Ok, bad news...

Tried booting from USB and this is what I've got (sorry about quality, my cellphone couldn't focus on the screen)

The bottom line showed: "Enter - OS Selection                      ESC - UEFI Firmware Settings"

Now I'm getting really afraid that my image is corrupted... [:(]

What would the next step be?

Well, I will try reinstalling the AlienRespawn and see what happens...

The problem from the Brazil Support is that they do not "have warranty for my system (R4)", but when I bought it on the US they said that I would have...

I will probably try calling Dell in the US to see if they have something to say about it.

Thanks for the help so far, I will keep this updated!

really? *** .. I thought the first screen shot with the commas for the drive sizes were non USA.  Europe does that too 100,2 GB and such.  I was a bit slow lol.  Hmm.. I tried using google translate to access the Dell Brasil support site and I can't find anything about ordering recovery media as is like the USA/Canada site.  You may have to call Dell Brasil.

You can try to download and re-install the alienware respawn software and see if that kicks it in the pants.

It may 'reconnect' your recovery partition to the rest of the OS as it sounds like the partition and data is there, but the MBR can't see it correctly.

Problem is that if you reinstall the Alienrespawn it will not hold your factory image.

My best recommendation in this case would be to start over from scratch and install the OS all over.

Ok, I will format using a Windows image then... Just to be sure, what should I save from the system?

I already saved the windows key, should I get something else?

Re-installed windows 2 days ago...

Everything is fine now. Hasn't tried to restore it to the old image though.

Thanks for the support!

System-wise.

That would be all.

(Assuming you're also saving your personal files as well).
