How does the GPUs (Nvidia and Intel) work in Alienware 17r1? When the Nvidia GPU begin to work it?
Hello
I want to know how works the GPU´s in alienware 17r1. Does Intel GPU and NVIDIA GPUs works together in same time or only in applications that it no require graphic processor power use the GPU intel and it use the GPU NVIDIA when a application that demand more power? or Alienware 17r1 used only one at the time, all the time?

Hi! The Alienware 17 works with nVidia Optimus which basically enables the option to combine the integrated Intel graphics with the discrete nVidia GPU while running graphic-intensive applications such as games. The nVidia GPU is turned on only for preset applications. You can find more information about the Optimus Technology here.

Hello
Now, I have tested with a monitor connected with mini display port but in this case the Nvidia GPU was ON all the time because Windows Display Manager use this NVIDIA GPU. I tried to change the Optimus configuration but I couldn´t..
When I connected the monitor with hdmi port the Optimus worked OK due to dwm.exe not ran.
Is there possibility to configure Optimus in order to have the same funcionability when I use mini display port or hdmi?
