When you have a RAID 0 configuration set up with your Hard Drives, removing either one of the 2 drives can corrupt that configuration and cause the system to not boot. You would need to create the RAID 0 configuration with the new drives and proceed to reinstall Windows. The drives need to be formatted in order to create a RAID array. Click here to view a Dell article that explains how to do this.
I follow the direction to create a RAID. When I entered the BIOS, I see only only SATA and it is set to RAID and ENABLED. When I exit from the BIOS and reboot the laptop, I hit CTRL-I and see only 1 drive which is the member disk and not the new drive. In the online example, it shows 2 non RAID drive but I only see the member drive. I deleted the RAID and now I got 2 Non RAID drives. When I hit CTRL-I again I only see one Non-RAID disk. I hit the Create RAID Volume and an error message comes back with Not Enough available space to create a volume. Please help. How can I create RAID for both disk and install windows again. I tried to install Windows and the installation does not see any disk. THanks.
I never seen the new drive show up in the CTRL-I menu as a non-RAID disk. Only seen the existing disk as member disk and when I deleted the existing disk as a member, it changed to non-RAID disks in the CTRL-I memu but not the new disk.
Just to confirm, you have never seen the 2 HDDs show up in the Ctrl + I menu as Non-RAID disks, is that correct? Try running an ePSA/Diagnostic test on the system, click here to view a Dell article that explains how to do this test. Let us know if you receive any errors.
I tried too run the ePSA test but it will not let me. I went ahead and order another hard drive and it should be here this Friday. I installed the old bad hard drive and the system lets me run the ePSA test but not with the new one. I hope the one coming this week will work. I will keep you posted.

They are both ST9500423AS and 500 GB each. Thanks.

Hi,
Please confirm the size and type for both of the Hard Drives that are installed in your computer.

Thanks for confirming that, did you run the ePSA/Diagnostic test?

Thanks for confirming this. It does sound like a possible hardware failure with the Hard Drive.
