Installing IDE HDD on new Area-51

Is this possible?

I know there is a IDE connection on the motherboard and power from the cables that go to the optical drives.  Will that work or is there an easier way?  Is there any IDE to SATA converter that will be small enough to have the HDD still fit where the rest are in the side panel?

I figure I can put it there, woul that work?  Is there an easier way?  I can't find a small IDE to SATA converter to just place where the other HDD's are, if anyone knows where to get one that would fit I would really appreciate it.

What might actually be easier to do is buy an external USB drive holder, for your older drive.  I have seen the fairly cheap at under $50.  Then if the drive fails, you can throw a new drive in it.  The nice part is, it's totally portable.

Thanks, I would prefer not to have another external HDD though. Right now, I'm still not sure if the HDD works so I would prefer not to buy anything more than 5-10$ such as an enclosure. I am hoping that I can just buy the 40pin cable to attach to the motherboard or if there is a cheap small IDE to SATA converter that will fit in the computer.

Aren't these SATA to IDE converters chiller?  I need IDE to SATA.  I need female inserts for the 40pin on the adapter.  This is small and it looks like it will fit in the side panel though

The 2nd one should be what you're looking for.

Is it really? because it looks like it have a female SATA, and there has to be a male on the SATA side.  Are you sure about this? Is there some sort of cable that you attach to it to make it work?

I finally found the perfect adapter! But i'm not sure if the sata connectors will line up, and if it's small enough to fit in the hard drive bays, does anyone know if this would fit?
