Installing SSD on Alienware Aurora R4???
Installing Intel SSD 520 Series and assume I need a compatible 3.5" to 2.5" bay converter. Can anyone suggest which bay converter to purchase?
Thank you.

Hi Ingalill,
I really think they're all about the same.

Hi,
I, too, assumed most were the same; unfortunately, the one I ordered centers the SSD drive in the bay; hence, it will not line up the two connections.
I see some bay converters that do mount the SSD off to one side, but curious if Alienwrae/Dell uses a specific bay converter.
Thank you for your reply.

Ok, it would have been helpful had you mentioned you already tried one that doesn't work. Let me move your message to the Alienware forum and perhaps someone there familiar with this system can suggest something.

Dell makes and sells one but I don't have the part number off hand. Search the forums here for it. Then call DELL spare parts and order it.

After a little research, going to give the following a try: ICY DOCK MB882SP-1S-1B. It appears widely available online.

This one fits the R4 if you don't want to use Dell. The guy said he had a Crucial SSD but the holes are all standard. : www.amazon.com/.../B002Z2QDNE

Had a heck of time looking for a bracket to fit my Alienware Aurora R4
until I found this. Looks and feels sturdy, but more importantly it fits. Now,
my rig is rocking a Crucial M4 256GB SSD OS setup.... Very Happy,
Indeed!!!

I just use double stick tape or velcro to secure it to the bay. Works great

Hi, the part you're searching is made by Dell and have part number 6XD4C. I've searching it in Europe and all says out of stock, but in USA should be available

In my Aurora R1 I have 2 x SSD just pushed into the backplane with no issues whatsoever. I'm not sure if they've changed the retention mechanism for HDD's in the newer models though.

I would like to thank all for their replies and help.
I had the ICY DOCK MB882SP-1S-1B on order and with yesterday's arrival found it an extremely simple conversion - no tools. SSD drive is insterted and the dock snaps into place ... job done.
