Laptop running hot

I have the Alienware m17x, and I was wondering what the temperature of the gpu SHOULD be while running Google Chrome, sitting idle, and playing games.

My laptop has had issues overheating in the past when playing games. I keep it in a well ventilated area and most of the time use a cooling pad and it wasn't a problem until a few months ago. It started overheating so bad that it would turn itself off after only 20 minutes of playing a game. This had happened before but it then became a frequent issue. I downloaded a temp test, saw my computer was running hot, and thankfully Dell replaced the graphics card and the heat sync.

I thought my computer would be fixed, but now when I'm on Google Chrome or watching a movie, it gets up to 55oC on average. When playing games, it still goes up to around 72oC. Is this normal, or should I contact Dell again to see if they can fix the problem before my warranty runs out in June?

Thanks for you help.

Please excuse my ignorance, but I don't believe this is the right place to post in this regard. I have no idea what is going on here, but from what I do understand we're discussing products which we are supposed to be filled in about some time in the coming future. As far as your laptop goes; try and ask on www.alienwarearena.com - the people there are very nice and extremely helpful.

I don't mean to sound arrogant here, after all, we're all on the same boat.

those temps should be fine now. A good thing to do is to clean out your system from the dust every year or so. helps the system a lot
