I've had my R4 since around 2010, Slowly upgraded the easy parts such as hard drives, RAM and graphics card but have reached the point where I now need to consider upgrading the Mother Board and the CPU.
I'm hoping for some advice around the following:
What motherboards are compatible with the R4 chassis?
Whats the best of the above to get?
What proc would be a sizable upgrade?
Will i loose the alien FX?
Current configuration has an Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz -

That case is mATX standard form factor. Might take a little modding, but nothing serious.
Yes, you might lose MIO-Board functions, which includes lights, fans, louvers, etc. You should search this forum for examples.

The dell case is proprietary. There are no boards that are drop in and work,
Non Dell motherboards remove the FX features.
Time to buy a new system.
