M14x-R2, GPU upgrade? Audio issue

Firstly, So basically, is it possible for me to upgrade my Alienware M14x-R2? such as, its graphic card? if it can be done, how should i do it? Do i have send it back to you guys or can i send it to any Dell shops?

Secondly, I have problem with my Alienware M14x-R2 speakers such as that it would not release its sound to the maximum potent. so far, i've tried uninstall and re-install the sound card thing. but, no change has been seen. SO, is it possible for me to send it to any Dell shops and let them check whats the problem with it? will it breach my warranty contract? i would like to avoid such situation

I'm still under warranty by the way

GPU upgrade is not possible.

If the speakers aren't working, contact Dell for troubleshooting and repair.

If I recall the M14x graphics card is built into the motherboard.

Hello Hisyam!

Tinker xD  is right the video card is built in to the motherboard so there is no way to upgrade just the video card.

And on regards to the audio issue have you updated the BIOS to the latest version? If you do so and the issue persists, please send me a PM with your service tag so I can check if there is something I can do for you.

Hisyam,
They are not new and old. They are just different specifications.

693T7 (Motherboard, Thermal Pad, 1GB Nvidia GeForce GTX650m) $491.91

Y7YHC (Motherboard, Thermal Pad, 2GB Nvidia GeForce GTX650m) $524.11

so, the only way i can upgrade my existing GPU is by replacing the motherboard with newer M14x R2 motherboard? since the size of the new and old are the same if I presume. would the cost be similar to buying a new Alienware M14x R2?

GTX650m or GT650m? Please clarify.

In my M14XR2, it indicates GT650m without the X.

Hi!

Both types of motherboards have a built-in Nvidia® Geforce® GT650M. Depending on the configuration you ordered, it can either be 1 GB or 2 GB.

We understand you.

We just want to clarify, Dell-Chris reply. He mentioned GTX650M.

But, for our M14X R2, it is only GT650M not a GTX650M.

Hi, Im having an issue with my Alienware Laptop its a M14x R2 and every time i start it up occasionally it will come up with the Audio as a red X by the volume icon, i've tried the windows fix it tool which hasn't solved it i've also went into device manager and disabled and uninstalled the drivers for the sound card and reinstalled it again. I've also updated the Bios to the latest version but the problems still seems to be occurring can you help? Only way i think of solving this issue is if i purchased a new mother board but thats about 200 quid and whats to say that the same problem won't happen again. This is a known issue to Alienware laptops.

Hello, not sure if you have answered this but just in case

For the M14x there is a Bios upgrade that you have to run to fix the issue the file is

M14R2A12WIN BIOS UPDATE.exe

I believe it can be found here
