M14x-R2 bad performance FPS drop
I bought my alienware less than a year ago (Still on warranty) and I used to have an average of 40 to 50 FPS no problems at all, but after a windows reinstall the average was no more than 30 to 35 with drops to 9 or even less. I'm not playing different games, usually Guild wars 2, but now Its happening with all my games and they are not playable as this is happens constantly.
I searched online every article, videos, recommendations and the community forum regarding this mater of FPS drop and followed every steps described, but nothing helped me.I have tried all suggestions, Latest drivers, power management, BIOS update, Temperatures, alienauthopsy, but nothing solved my issue.
Would be really helpful if someone can give me a hint on this. I'm really worried about this issue.
Chris

Hello Cristianarodri!
On those cases when you have tried every single troubleshoot step we will recommend you to perform an Alienrespawn or a clean installation of windows, that way we will make sure that is not a software issue.

cristianarodri,
Did you test both ours and the retail GTX650m driver and compare the results?
The Dell OEM WHQL driver is 307.17.
The retail WHQL driver is 327.23.

Hi Chris M, thanks for your reply. After several days of testing I've tried with the DELL OEM 307.17 driver and I have to say, it is working!
The old driver simply fixed my problem, there is no FPS drops any more and the average is up to 50 again. The only problem is that the latest version of this driver its making things go wrong again.
Is any other solution than not update the drivers??? as far as I understand the recommendation to get the best results is to keep the drivers updated all the time, but this is not the case.
At the moment I'll keep the old version as it solved my problem, if you have another recommendation please let me know.
Cheers,
Chris

Similar problems with my m18x, looks like same problem I got.. after fresh install of windows everything was running around 50 fps on gtx 580m sli, after windows updates and some drivers RECOMENDED upgrade performance dropped badly, even start getting white/black window crashes and system restart. Looks like same driver upgrade just makeing you think your system out of date and not strong enough. Is that done with purpose just to make you want new better laptop/gpu ?
