M17-R1 : Upgrade to Windows 10 failed and corrupted previous OS (Win7)

While upgrading to Windows 10, at about 45%, the screen switched from the bubble showing the percentage to a black screen with a grey bar stating 'Reverting back to previous version of windows', then went black. It then automatically rebooted and was brought to the typical Windows Error Recovery Screen. Both options, (Launch Startup Repair and Start Windows Normally) bring me to the same place: a low-res screen with the windows 7 home background, and a window titled "System Recovery Options". Selecting my region and language (US/English), I am given two options: 'Restore my computer using a system image that you created earlier', or 'Use recovery tools that can help fix problems starting Windows. Select an operating system to repair." - under is a blank box titled operating systems. Additionally, there is a button to 'Load drivers and Install drivers for your hard disks', bringing me to the System32 folder. Loading drivers provides no solace, and re-imaging gives the error 0x80070002 (The system cannot find the file specified. Am I correct in assuming that the current os has been corrupted, and how am I able to fix this?

Hi,

Perhaps it might be best to do a clean installation of Windows 7 first and then try the Windows 10 update again. If you would like to do a clean installation of Windows 7 and you have the Windows 7 media, click here to view a video that explains how to do this step by step. Before doing the update to Windows 10 again, we recommend you view this link and follow the procedures.
