M17 R1 wifi problem
Hi ! I have recently bought an Alienware M17 R1, it is quite old I'm not exactly sure how old it is but anyway, I have an ethereal cable that came with it and it works fine when plugged into my Hub, but the problem is when I take it out the Laptop doesn't pick up any of the wireless connections available, please help as I bought this as I wanted a laptop that had decent wireless. Thanks in advance

Hi,
Open Device Manager and check under Network Adapters, can you confirm which network adapters you show here and if any are showing with an error?

I did some research and apparently the wifi chip in this model is known to overheat and break, I'm going to get a friend to take a look inside and see if this is the case, if so what is the best wifi chip i can replace it with ? I'm not very technical with this sort of thing, but I just want to have a decent wireless connection in the laptop, thanks
