M17x-R1 Service Manual needed please.

Hi all,

I am in desperate need of parts information for my M17x-R1 unit. Amazingly, I cannot find a PDF service manual for this model anywhere!

Can anyone help?

Regards,

Dez

Actually no, the manual I linked is for the M17x-R1. The R1, R2, and R3 extremely close looks wise.

What you're talking about is the legacy Alienware Area-51 m17x. Sorry, don't know where you can get a manual for it, but the guys at the http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware-area-51-aurora-legacy-systems/ should be able to help.

Thank you for trying to help but the Alienware m17x-R1 is in fact also the Alienware Area-51 m17x.
You can see a picture of its base here with the official m17x-R1 Alienware label on it: http://gallery.techarena.in/data/513/area51-m17x-bottom.jpg

The Dell Alienware m17x is commonly (mistakenly) referred to as an m17x-R1 these days, which makes my search much more difficult.

Notice the small m, that's the important part. the (big)M17x which you were originally asking for is a newer generation, yours is the m17x. I actually own the M17x R1 which is Core 2 tech, GTX 280 SLI or Radeon 4870 Crossfire. R2 is Core i7 tech with GTX 285 SLI or 5870 Crossfire. R3 is Core i7 sandy bridge tech with only single GTX 460 or single Radeon 6970.

So small m and big M are important when discussing the alienware laptops.
