M17x R4 - Windows 8 issues
Hello
I'm wondering if anyone has any info on the following issues i have running windows 8.
1. I installed windows 8 in uefi mode, it installed fine but the option for fast boot is not available in the bios, i have read somewhere that this is because of the 680m 3d vbios, does anyone know if this has been resolved or any work arounds?
2. I have tried to install the alienware osd as per the instructions provided by dell but no matter how many times i try i'm stuck with the windows 8 ones.
3. The FN + F7 key wont allow me to switch to the integrated graphics, when pressing i just get a windows loading circle but nothing happens, i have also tried launching the switch gpu application in the alienware/osd folder.
If anyone has any info it would be greatly appreciated.

I installed windows 8 in uefi mode, when trying to disable the legacy option rom i receive an error "Cant detect MXM card GOP driver" as i cant disable the legacy option the bios uses legacy mode instead of uefi. I have read that if i load windows, hit FN +F7 to change to the internal graphics i can then get into the bios and disable the legacy option. My issue is that my FN +F7 does not work in windows 8. I have followed the instructions in the link you provided.

Hey, I have ried to install Win 8 in UEFI Mode, but have been missing something...so if you can please let me know of how have you done it...!!
Also I have the AMD 7970M and I am able to switch between integrated graphics with Fn+F7.
Please let mw know how how did you install in UEFI Mode, and also if you get the new BOOT/BIOS Screen..??
