M18X R2 with caching low performance rating
I just installed Windows 8 on my alienware m18x r2. It has the 700GB primary drive and the 32 GB secondary SSD for caching. I then installed the intel software and enabled caching in Maximized mode.
I then finished installing drivers (there are a few unknown devices still though) and ran the Windows Experience Index assessment. Everything was pretty high but the disk was low at 3.9.
I know it should be a lot faster. Does anyone have any ideas here?
thanks

The WEI is not a real benchmark. You can not trust anything it tells you.
Go here and download CrystalDiskMark. Then compair your bench speed to the rated speed of the drive. crystalmark.info/.../index-e.html

One more question, anyone know what the "Press s to synchronize" setting does in the intel controller bios (where it says press ctrl+i to enter bios)?

Might not be a "real" benchmark but there is something wrong here. The hard drive should get a much better rating.
thanks for the info i'll try out crystal mark.

Who is using a similar config and getting a different score on the drive?

I have to agree with Morblore, the WEI is not to be trusted. Run the benchmark he kindly provided, that should give the accurate performance of the drive.
