just posting this response as I had this issue the other day where I was not seeing the Webcam showing in the device list etc. If this happens to you follow the steps outlined below:
Step 1: Press and hold the Fn key and then tap the F9 key (The key with little camera on it).
Job done. You should now see imaging devices in your Device Manager, and if you had the Dell Webcam software open your face should suddenly appear on the screen..... Enjoy.
As i had mentioned earlier, i had formatted my laptop, so i did not install any webcam drivers because i could not find them. So there is not point in me removing Dell Webcam Central since it was never installed to begin with.
As for the link you gave, i am downloading the drivers from there and will install them and post up results soon.
Ok i managed to install the software you suggested. It did not fix the problem fully. The webcam has started working but it stops all of a sudden and the webcam central software says please plug in a supported device. Also i noticed when installing the software that my laptop was not on the list of supported computer systems.
The Webcam central link which I have posted should work on the computer.
Check if the webcam is detected in Device manger:
Click on the Start button and then choose Control Panel.
Click on the System and Security link.
Note: If you're viewing the Large icons or Small icons view of Control Panel, you won't see this link. Simply click on Device Manager and then proceed to next step.
In the System and Security window, click on the Device Manager link located under the System heading.
Also, update BIOS on the computer from the below link:
During BIOS update verify that the computer is connected to an AC Adapter.
Disconnect any third party peripherals connected to the computer before performing BIOS update.
Do not turn off the computer during the BIOS update.
Do not restart the computer during the BIOS update.
Note: Plug your computer to a good, working wall jack before you update the BIOS. If you experience a loss of AC power or a significant voltage sag/spike during the BIOS flash, you will either have to buy a new BIOS chip or buy a new motherboard.
I have update my BIOS a week ago. The link to the software you gave works for a few mins and then it says please plug in a supported device. I have managed to get a copy of Cyberlink Media Suite 9 and installed it. My webcam is stable for the moment. :)
Glad that the issue is fixed. In case of a similar situation in future, you can always refer to the link http://dell.to/YegVvF Feel free to reach out to us on SDC for any help.”
I am having the same problem, in my case no webcam is found. It used to work before and I am not aware what has changed that it stopped working since I use the cam not very often. My BIOS is up-to-date. Anything else I can try?
Hi, I have an Alienware 18 and it was never shipped with any Webcam software. The drivers are there because Chatroullette can use the camera fine. I wan to record webcam videos. When I attempted to install the Dell Webcam software it tells me there is no webcam present but Chatroullette can use the camera just fine. I attempted to install the other Dell webcam software that was suggested and it just crashed and give a command prompt error log that closes so fast I cannot read it.

Hi Mattux355!
Please specify which version of the Dell Webcam Central you're trying to install and where you're downloading it from.
If you look above at all the other suggestions, I have tried all of them to no avail. I will go through what happens on each one. Camotec posted to hit Fn + F9 to turn on the camera. My Alienware 18 does not have that function. My Fn + F9 is to turn on HDMI input. Dell-Rajesh R posted to download the link: http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/DriverDetails?driverId=N2X8D which I did after following the instructions. That program says connect a supported device. It is an integrated webcam which works with an outside program I do not need to "plug it in." Then Rajesh says to update the BIOS. Not sure why but I did that anyway. Oh never mind I already had the newest version. Then Andrew Si says to download Dell Webcam Central v2.00.44 from the Dell website. I create a profile and there are no downloads available. I just Google the program and I attempt to install this program http://softadvice.informer.com/Dell_Webcam_Central_V2.00.44.html and then this one: http://dell-webcam-central.software.informer.com/ and they both crash when trying to start the program. Now what do I do? Like I said, the webcam works with Chatroullette but not with any official Dell software. All I want to do is record videos. How do I do this without paying for functional software that should have been included with my computer. This is like selling someone a car and not giving them the keys so they can drive it.

Hi Sanjesh
If the webcam is not working, I recommend uninstalling and reinstalling the webcam drivers.
To uninstall the Dell webcam central software, perform the following steps:
I have provided a link below to reinstall the webcam drivers.

What i probably need is Webcam Central for Windows 7 64bit or Cyberlink Media Suite Essentials for Windows 7 64bit.

Hi, I know what your looking for, you want the program named Dell Webcam Central v2.00.44
Do not use v2.00.35 as that is for earlier Alienware models.
1. Google "My Dell Downloads"
2. Login and create a account
3. Register your system
4. You will now have access to Dell webcam central and a lot of other software that was factory installed on your laptop.
You may have to persist with registering, the my dell download site is sometime unreliable
