When you reinstalled the operating system, did you install the Desktop/Notebook system software(if applicable) and the chipset drivers first? If not, the rest of the drivers will fail to install. How to Download and Install Drivers in the Correct Order
Start with the Desktop/Notebook system software and the chipset drivers and follow the list.
I just recently reformatted my laptop and i tried to install all the drivers that were in the resource DVD and for some reason the Wifi does not appear at all... and the Command Center just errors all the time...
You have to identify the WiFi device first, because there are several different possible drivers.
There is also the issue of using old AlienFX/MIO drivers from older Dell Driver Resource CDROMs and them "bricking" AlienFX controllers. It seems the Forum Sticky about it has been removed. I just sent Chris-M a PM about it.
well if you had updated the command center at any point then used the one on resource cd... its likely the MIO board that controls the lighting is toast(corruopted) since backdated the command center is not good idea(well documented)
as for the wireless is it enabled. i cant reeber the Fn+** key to make sure enable or was it on the touch strip, sorry been to long since i owned my M17XR2.
also the resource cd has drivers for more then one but honestly THROW THAT CD OUT ITS JUNK.... always use most recent on dell's website and proper ones can be obtained by using your service tag
are you getting netframework error... when loading control center or ?
As of October 2010, the Command Center on the Resource DVD was fixed. If the system shipped after October 2010, some other action has caused a corrupted Master I/O board or other Command Center issue. The systems that might have been effected by this are as follows - Aurora-R1, Aurora-R2, Area-51 M11x-R1, M11x-R2, M15x, M17x-R1, M17x-R2

Install the command center last.
