Your basic qwestion means I'll give a one size fits all answer. If when buying the i5-6600k, "The K-Series Processor selected requires a Liquid Cooled selection", mandatory "Alienware™ 850 Watt Multi-GPU Approved Power Supply with High Peformance Liquid Cooling". In that scenario, i5-6600k shares the same liqwid kooler & 850 power supply with 6700k, making for an easy swap-out, so long as you're careful so as to not bend or damage any CPU pins in the attempt; a high-qwality thermal paste between cpu & kooler is also warranted.

If this is about an i5-6400 & 460watt (non-80Plus?) power supply (any non-K), those arrive with a basic air-fan-sink. Below, Hockey did the i3-to-6700k upgrade, 49mm liqwid-kooler upgrade, where the i3-based motherboard's missing (or does not get) the VRM MOSFET heatsink, see his results:

Alienware Aurora R5 - CPU Fan 100% ><Aurora-R5, long shipping delays (p2 / p3)

Dell XPS 8900 SE gets 6700k + 460watt non-80Plus power supply, typically with a solo low-power GTX 970, where we might think this combo stays within the inefficient 460watts ability. It is almost a certainty that if you buy their 460 now & try to buy an 850 with cables later from Dell, they'll lay waste to your bank account, so it may be wiser to order the 850 now (add 100). Details about dropping in your own 850w - 1000w power supply which would out-do their 850 offering (EVGA / Corsair / Seasonic etc) is something we're waiting to find out can or can't happen, is or is not easy, does or does not work due to X Y Z.

At any rate, the 460 is sold by Dell with 6700k. If your graphics card or cards reqwire too much power & the system shuts off, you would need a larger power supply accordingly. Easier to get their 850 now.

For 6700k, a 'better' fan-sink of suitable size (to allow psu to close) or a liqwid-kooler whose tubes will fit & allow psu to close would be recommended, as Hockeytown advises the basic Intel fan-sink with the i3 was kind of whimpy & cpu wanted to run hot
