Nvidia Driver Installation Problem M14x GT555m
Hello
I recently noticed that when i opened Nvidia Control Panel, it does not list the GT555m and when i clicked system information, the GT555m doesnt show up. Device Managers only lists my Intel integrated card. So i figured perhaps i should download the newest drivers.
. When i go to Set-up, This message shows at the first step of the installer : System Check-up
" This Graphics Driver could not find compatible graphics hardware"
It is as if my GT555m just went poof. Tried both the 295 and the 290 versions. Same Error.
I also followed the steps in this thread :
http://www.alienwarearena.com/forums/topic/10437/hardware/m14x-nvidia-gt555m-problem/
Which ask of me to delete all Nvidia programs to make a clean install.
However i could not uninstall "Nvidia Performance", " PhysX" And "System Monitor".
Im really not sure whats going on so i will be grateful for any help! Thanks!

Have you tried using the NVIDIA Driver from Dell's site? It's here:
www.dell.com/.../19
Use the 285.62 P08 one. You could then upgrade the driver, if you want, to the 290s but without deleting everything. Simply install the new one. It's the way I have always installed my updates on my M14X with no issues.
If it does not work, let me know.

Yeap i tried that. Was fine for 1 day. Then the next day which is today, the M14x started an unending series of BSOD. A windows update was also installed. So i figured perhaps the update was the issue so i rolled back to before the Windows update. BSOD still occured so i rolled back to 3 weeks ago. So now im back to square 1.
Really Frustrating. The BSOD was something KERNEL_ Input_DATA or something to that effect. It was too fast. After the rollback everything seems fine but im without the driver. Should i try to install the 285.62 P08 again?

Just to be safe, make sure you do not have any other programs running when doing this. Also, It may not request you do, but after completing this driver installation, do a restart. Then check it.

Let's try plan B. It seems that 285.62 P08 from Dell is not working for you. I don't think the windows update is impacting it. You can always try the drivers from NVIDIA, as I did. But I hear people say that if you do, Dell may use it against you and say it's a warranty breaker. But You can always try anything and then do a System Restore. It's what I do when something I try does not work. If you decide to do it, you can download the NVIDIA Driver from the link below:
www.geforce.com/.../39066
There are also BETA Drivers that are newer but you may want to start with this one. Should this work, then you could update to the BETA's. Now, the one thing I did not do with my M14X, was that cleaner program. I have never liked using them because going back doing a system restore may not work completely.
Let me know how it goes.

Im not sure how or what happened but my GT555M is alright now and shows up as Version 285.62. My BSOD problems were caused by bad sectors in the HD. Spent an entire day getting rid of malware and repairing the sectors and the computer is fine all of a sudden.
Thanks for all the help! Not sure what happened but everything is great now with no more BSOD.
