I feel your pain - mine was ordered on the 13th, and I'm so used to getting machines from Dell and Alienware MUCH sooner than they originally say, so I was expecting my 7 business day wait time to turn into 3.  I have been agonizing over it, and could only imagine what would happen if they actually delayed it.  I would be a nervous wreck, constantly checking the order status page. That being said mine has no delay yet placed on it.  Perhaps there is a part in your build that is on delay.  I don't know this for sure, and this may just be a rumor, but I have heard Dell may have pulled the nVidia 660 because it may have problems, but then I'm still seeing it on the order page and there's no delayable option.  What is your build config?  Here's mine:

Alienware Aurora-R4
Intel Core i7-3820 (Quad Core, 10MB Cache) Overclocked up to 4.1GHz
8GB Quad Channel DDR3 at 1600MHz
Alienware MM Keyboard, US (I already have a TactX)
DELL U2312H 23IN Flat Panel Display
2GB GDDR5 NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680
2TB Serial ATA 3 Hard Drive
Alienware Aurora X79
19-in-1 Media Card Reader
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, English, w/Media
Alienware Documentation - English
Dell Resource DVD with Application Backup
Dell Support Center 3
DataSafe Local BackUp
Alienware Product Survey Application
Windows 7 Browser Search for Alienware
Alienware Optical Mouse, MG100

That's a nice build - I especially like the six core processor.  I would have ordered one myself but the price was too much.  I'm sure you'll enjoy it once you get it.

Unless someone from Dell chimes in, I'll let you know if mine ships monday as it is supposed to, or if it is delayed.  If it does ship, then likely your processor or video card is on backorder, as those are the parts that really differ from mine, aside from the DVD vs Bluray, or maybe even the hard drive.  If it doesn't ship, then there's probably delays all around...

Oh, another question, do you live in the U.S.?  Could be different delay problems for different countries.

I know... guessing as to why something is delayed is a fool's game, but it helps to have someone to talk to about it.

Will do...  I check the dratted order page every few minutes (that should tell you how obsessive I am over it) so I'll let you know.

Well... here's the news.  Today was the day mine was supposed to ship out.  I got an email this morning that made my heart sink and made me more than just a bit upset.  "Your recent Dell Order has been Delayed."  My estimated delivery date has been moved to 10/2.  So, now I've got to wait again until Dell decides on the last day to tell me it's been delayed again...  At least, that's what I fear is going to happen.

Anyone from Dell able to tell us why the R4s are being delayed? It would be an easier burden to bear having to wait even longer if we knew why.  Apparently it's not just my machine.

EDIT:  After doing a bit of research, I am looking at the order page and it says that the Soundblaster X-Fis are delaying...  I can understand that for computers that were ordered today (after all, that's when they started saying they were being delayed) but why would that apply to my machine?  I ordered mine on the 13th.  All the time between that time there has been nothing showing as a delay-time part.  The guy above doesn't even have that card if I'm reading his specs right.

I'm glad you're getting yours!  It gives me hope.  Even if I don't though, it's only another week...  another long... slow, agonizing week.  I sure am glad I got next business day shipping, because once it does ship I'm going to be ready...

Things don't sound too good on the Aurora R4 I just ordered tonght, 9/29/2012. Pretty much the same as the OP, but a different graphics card. The sales dude said mine would be delivered on the 11th of Oct, but I went through the delivery delays when I bought my Studio XPS 435T so really wasn't counting on it being here when he said it would. Just will be happy when it gets here.

Well...  down to the wire again.  By tomorrow I should know whether mine is going to be here on the 2nd or if it'll get delayed again.  An Alienware social rep told me the delay was due to a part, so we shall see.

I was trying to own this new system since 9/1/12 and it was delayed.  So I cancelled it and ordered more upgraded one on 9/13/12 and I was told that it would be shipped on 10/05/12.  Just waiting with all of my works postponed, and there is nothing I can do.  :(

As I mentioned in a board post I'm still waiting on my order delayed email.  They sent it real early in the morning the last time.  Updated it to where it would ship out today, and it's 6:00 my time now... no order delayed email.  When will that email arrive?

I think you are right about the big outlet stores getting them faster, but I have configured mine with what I want so that's not an option. I do have a point of contacts phone number and e-mail so if mine should drag out too much I will contact her. My son is in the military and ordered a Alienware laptop on his last tour in Iraq. He had to go through Army contacts when he ordered it. He was given a date and received the computer two week before that date. Go figure.

How long have you all been waiting and are these delays the execption or the rule? As I just ordered mine a couple days ago should I take the delivery date given as just a date they can't meet? Does anyone know what the hold ups are? When the 435Ts were held up for 3 weeks a couple years ago it was because they couldn't get the cases. I finally saved enough money for the Alienware computer and am anxious to get it, but don't like what I am seeing.
