Problem with 3d vision on my Alienware M17x
Hi!! I hope you can help me with my problem...
I recently bought a second-hand Alienware M17x.
Due to some virus problems, i made a "Restore to Factory Settings", and now i cant set-up the stereoscopic 3d-vision.
I followed this steps:
http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/kcs/document?c=us&cs=19&docid=559681&l=en&s=dhs
... but in step number 4, where i should see the laptop option (3D Vision Built-in IR Emitter) i find this option missing. Instead of that, i find 4 options:
- USB IR emitter and glasses (I dont have an USB IR emitter!! )
- Wired Glasses
- Pro Hub and Glasses
- Discover Glasses
I have tryed everything i could imagine to fix this, and i alreado have instaled the last Nvidia notebook drivers but... no success
I hope someone can help me. I really was wishing to try the stereoscopic 3d..
Thanks you very much!!

Hey Tharem,
I was looking around and stumbled upon this guide that may help you set up the nVidia 3d vision correctly.
NVIDIA 3D Vision setup on the Alienware M17x R3 & R4
Let us know how it goes

Hi Luis!
Thanks for your reply, but that link is the same one that i had followed before. You can see the link in line 5 of my previous post.
The problem is that on step number 4 of that guide, i should find the option "3D Vision Built-in IR Emitter", but this option is missing on the Nvidia Setup Panel.
Any ideas about why this happens?
Thanks!

after you did the restore did you use the nvidia drivers from the dell/alienware website or did you download direct from nvidia? cause i think if you downloaded strait from nvidia it might not work try the ones from the dell download page and see how that goes first!

i agree, it could be driver related. Which version are you running?

I have the very same problem as above.
and I quote "in step number 4, where i should see the laptop option (3D Vision Built-in IR Emitter) i find this option missing. Instead of that, i find 4 options:
- USB IR emitter and glasses (I dont have an USB IR emitter!! )
- Wired Glasses
- Pro Hub and Glasses
- Discover Glasses"
So -the gist is that I don't get a "3D Vision Built-in IR Emitter" at all. My Nvidia driver is the latest one (314.07), so that's not the issue.
It's really absurd that i have to waiste time to figure out something that should work out of the box.
Please find a solution
