Problem with Aurora R4 Graphics Card AMD Radeon HD 6870 1GB

I've been searching around for answers on this and I'm stumped

I usually let my computer go to sleep and just let it run, I don't shut it down very often. Recently it began not displaying anything when I would wake it up my display would just say no signal. So a quick restart and it would come back on no problem.

Yesterday the fans just kick on full blast and the display isn't working so i restarted it and it would turn on but the display didn't come on and the fans would run full blast again.

So I opened it up and pulled out my Graphics Card ( Radeon HD 6870 1GB ) and booted it up to see if that was the culprit. It booted up and the fans ran quiet nothing unusual as far as I could tell. So I figured I would put the Graphics Card back in and try to replicate the above problem. I put it back in the same pci e slot and reconnected the power in the same way I took it out. I booted it up and it runs the same as when I took it out, the fans come on they run quietly however the display is still not working.

Any advice on what I'm doing wrong here would be appreciated :)

Hello,

Try doing a power drain. To perform a power drain, follow the steps below.

  • Turn the system off and disconnect the power cord.
  • Disconnect all external devices (mouse, keyboard, monitors, etc)
  • Press and hold the power button for 1 minute.
  • Connect everything again and turn on the system.

Steps are here:

Especially, re-seat video card or try other slot.

Install a different (inexpensive/simple/used is OK) video card. This will test if whole machine is working (minus video card).

Test this video card in other working system.

Test power supply (and PCIe power outputs).

Work toward at least getting video at BIOS post.
