RAM Upgrade Options

Hello, I have a Alienware M14x, that i purchased in 2011, which came with 6GB of RAM installed. I am having performance issue playing some games and have been told that a RAM upgrade would help. I cant't seem to find anywhere what the maximum amount of RAM I can install. I understand, from reading other threads, that i cannot upgrade my video card, so I would at least like to upgrade my RAM.

Any information would be nice.

For the Alienware M14x R1, the maximum ram supported is 8GB. So you need 2 modules of 4gb each to do the upgrade.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

I guess my next question is can i replace the 2GB RAM with any 4 GB ram?

The memory configuration supported for this system is 1333/ 1600 MHz unbuffered non-ECC dual channel DDR3.

Would this work?

4GB PC3-12800 DDR3 1600 MHz SODIMM for Notebooks

It appears to have the necessary requirements for it to work with your Alienware system. Unfortunately, since this is a third party product, I cannot confirm that it is going to fully function with the system.
