Recovery Disks not working correctly
Hello guys,
I am trying to reestore my system to Factory Defaults.
I have 2 DVDs recovery disks. But when i reboot from them and select the Complete recovery mode that erases all disk data and reestore it to factory defaults, it is installing the Windows 8 in the 750gb Hard Drive.
I want to install ithe Windows 8 System in the SSD Drive (mSata). Just like it came from factory.
I dont have the recovery partition anymore, I cant use Alien Respawn.
How can i restore my System to Factory Defaults using the 2 recovery DVDs that i have but installing the OS in the SSD instead of installing it in the Hard Drive ?
Thanks

first go into your bios and change a few things make sure it say ahci and not raid then your gonna have to do is go into the bios and see which bay your ssd is in then go to boot order and move that bay to the top of the list depending on your model you may be able to highlight it and use the + - keys to move it up or down but you want to move the ssd to the top of the boot order list then when you reboot your computer use the corresponding F key to get in to the one time boot menu select the dvd cd option then hit enter now when your computer starts to install the OS what your gonna have to do is since you have more than 1 hdd simply make sure when it asks you where you want to install the OS you select the ssd and not the hdd do this and the rest is easy after the OS then install the Resources disc and your done

Hello my friend,
Thank you very much for the reply. But the problem is not solved yet.
I entered the BIOS and changed from RAID to AHCI. After that i moved the mSata option to the top of Boot Options (because my SSD is in mSata).
I rebooted the Pc and with F12 selected the DVD/CD Boot Option with the Recovery DVD 1 inside the drive.
The big problem is that the AlienRespawn in the DVD dont let me choose in what drive i want to install the Operating System, it only let me choose between 2 options , first option reestore only the OS partition and second option erases all data and reestore to factory default the system.
When i select the second option , system asks me to select a image from the list , and then i select the FACTORY DEFAULT image, after that it starts the Restore without asking me where i want to install the system...
If the DVD was a WINDOWS dvd of course it would let me choose the disk where i want to install it.
But this AlienRespaw Recovery disk that came with my Alienware M14x R2 is different from Windows setup.
Any other ideas ?
Thanks !

I am using Windows 8 64 bit,
when i use the recovery disk first it give me 2 options:
1- Run the program from your hard drive (recommended)
2- Run the program from your system recovery disk
--> I cant change the option 1 , because it says "Recovery Partition Not Found"
Ok, i choose option 2.
Then it let me choose an image to restore to. I choosed the Factory Image.
Now 2 more options avaliable:
1- Factory Refresh - Only restore the system partition and keeps other partitions contents
2- Factory Recovery - Deletes data & resets all partitions
Now i choosed option 2 . It start the restore without giving me option to choose what drive will be the OS drive. I cant choose SSD.
When the restore is over the Operating System Windows 8 is installed in the hard drive.
I dont know how can i restore it to Original factory with OS in SSD.
Any ideas ?
Thanks !

Yes install the ssd in the secondary bay go into bios change to ahci then change the boot order to the second hdd . Now completely remove the hdd leaving only the ssd then continue to system restore and select new everything this way the os has no choice to install onto the ssd then after its completely installed run resources DVD in proper order and after its all said and done then install the hdd

Opening the laptop and installing ram or hdds will in no way void the warranty. Trust me on this one I asked dell that same question when I upgraded my ram there's a lot of work in getting to those to slots under the keyboard. Well not really but it's nit as easy as getting to the first two slots

If I were you, install your windows 8 back first in the HDD then follow this guide --> http://lifehacker.com/5837543/how-to-migrate-to-a-solid+state-drive-without-reinstalling-windows

Thats a good idea Vanzelot, thanks !
I installed Windows 7 x64 Ultimate and all drivers from Dell Website for Windows 7 x64. And the system is entering Blue Screen and reseting.
Now the windows 7 cant even load, starts to load , blue screen, reset... Ive made a video of this:

I am starting to think this is a Hardware fail problem...or maybe a Bios wrong setup.
Is there any place i can check the correct BIOS setup for M14xR2 ?
Thanks
