Reinstall windows
My HD crashed and im trying to reinstall windows with the cd that came with the computer, but i dont have the activation key for windows what can i do, since i cant use my recovery disk doe to no partion.

I did install 10 and now hd crashed, but when i try to intall with this cd i have it takes me to a screen where it asks for the cerial key.

It should install and Activate fine. If there is no CoA-Key sticker on machine, the Windows serial key is burned into the motherboard BIOS.
Blank drive installed.
Press F12 and boot the DVD-ROM.
What happens
... or what makes you think it's not working?

windows 8.1
the cd i have its red and it says operating system already installed on your system. ok just read a bit more and its a recovery media for windows 8.1 products 64 bit.
how can i install windows again, i had to buy a new hd and now im stuck

What Alienware make/model do you have?
What version of Windows came pre-installed?
What version of Windows is on that DVD-ROM? If it's an Alienware OEM Win-7 disc, it should not be asking for a serial. It will active online as Genuine on its own (after Windows is installed).
Did you ever previously take machine forward to Windows-10?
