Reinstalling Windows 7 on M17x-R3
Hello,
I've tried to reinstall windows a few times on my Alienware laptop M17x-R3. Everything seems to go fine with the install process but when I'm done the laptop is very sluggish, not near as fast as it was when I first got it. Is there an install order for the drivers? Can someone point me to some kind of guide for installing the drivers in the proper order? Also during the windows install process, should I be creating a separate partition for alien respawn?
Also, the laptop shipped with Windows 7 Home. Is it OK to install 7 Pro? I'm assuming it's OK but with the problems I've had with these installs I don't want to rule anything out.
Thanks!

Hi,
If you bought a Windows 7 Pro license, I don't see why there would be a problem installing that version of Windows. Click here to view the Dell Drivers and Downloads page, enter your service tag and select the corresponding operating system. There is an Installation Order option on the View By section of the page, you can follow that order for installing the drivers. Once you have installed all of the system drivers and applications, install Alien Respawn, this program will begin to create the recovery partition on your primary HDD/SSD (it does this by itself after you install it).

Thanks. I'm using this install order that some owners have put together on notebookreview.com and seems to be working so far. Also, putting in my service tag doesn't help since there are many drivers missing. Chris from Dell said to just search for the drivers using my model number M17x R3 which worked.
I've run into a small problem though. I don't know which LAN and Wireless driver to use. The specs of my laptop on my Dell account site says I have: Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1000 b/g/n 1x2 MIMO Technology but there isn't a driver listed for that and it also doesn't say what my LAN card is.

Glad to hear you found a working Intel WiFi Win7-64 driver.
I have relayed your report of the missing driver to Dell. Thanks.

I tried that one earlier and when you click on the link it gives you a 404 file not found error. I found one on the Intel support page and it seems to be working. Thanks.
