SERIOUS problem that Alienware (Dell) needs to FIX !!

That HDD Hitachi drive you have in your laptops is BAD for gaming !! lag and stutters all the time mostly noticeable in bf1 & bf4, game stutters and lag every couple of seconds.. when moved the games to the ssd games ran very smoothly no stutter, spike nor lag. Tried this on both my laptop and my friend's laptop since he also has an alienware. After moving the games to the SSD we can enjoy our games. I'm sure alienware (Dell) are aware about that. my question is why haven't you fixed the problem already ?? why are you selling your laptops at such a high price when you put a very cheap low quality HDD in them ???yes we did test if the hard drives had any errors, it didn't show any errors the hard drives are just NOT good, and YES I have the latest BIOS.

ADDITIONAL PROBLEM: WiFi Connectivity
As we all know that all alienware laptops come with pre-installed windows and drivers. BUT the version of windows that comes with the laptop has a lot of issues, including BSOD, WiFi disconnectivity, slow system. My FIX to ALL of these issues was installing a clean copy of windows and re-installing the drivers, windows run smoothly and WiFi now never gets disconnected. BSOD also disappeared with the clean install of windows. I do request from DELL to please PLEASE test your operating systems thoroughly before selling them.

The Hitachi 1TB drive that sells with the Alienware 17-R4 is = 97DYV. It is also sold on 48 other laptops and desktops. If the HDD was having systemic issues, we would be seeing thousands of complaints about it, which we are not.

@ Dell-Chris M . Download Battlefield 4 on the hitachi hdd and play, notice all the stuttering. then move the game to the ssd and notice the change

so go drive a Ferrari then go drive a moped then tell which is faster...

comparing the 2 dosent even come close as SSD is way faster..

moral of the story..  bad drives do happen..  and its possible to pass all tests and still have problems. My Seagate with my X51 passed but I lagged just running windows till it finally gave up yet diagnostics said nothing wrong ...

second moral.. don't be cheap and buy it with the ssd .. don't expect near same performance from  a mechanical drive.. :O

I run mechanical drive with ark survival .. takes 5X longer to load over when its on the SSD ...

1. Same I noticed a few years ago. Also, just having Windows on SSD boot drive makes a big difference. All my machines (old and new) have SSDs now. My main programs fit on there also. It's like night and day... very snappy.

I thought you could get all AW computers with SSDs now-days. I know I suggested it back-in-the-day. .

2. I think because some users still want to carry a bunch of games with them. So, it's either spinning drives or large ( high-priced) SSDs.

3. Killer-Networking card maybe? Yeah, many report various problems with those cards (just search here a bit). Sounds like you ended up with a better/working driver suite. Glad to hear you got it working because some are reportedly not so lucky.

It's not the "OS". Windows-10/64bit is the best one yet. More like Dell's choice of hardware vendors and the matching device drivers. And yes, sometimes the Disk-Image they load contains un-proven drivers. I guess that's the price we pay for getting the latest tech. Luckily, Dell/AW is pretty good about validating and uploading new working drivers as they become available. You can also usually go directly to device-makers website. Many driver sets get published and downloaded via Windows Update now-days.

if so  why isn't thousands reporting same  issue? ...

at end of day why you order such a *high end* system with a cheap drive anyway?

sorry I don't see your hard drive complaint being widespread..

although killer  has  been a problem that I know since as far as I can remember so you got valid complaint  there and  the fix isn't   what it should   be :(

There are 3 makers of drives left in the world.   Seagate, Western Digital, Toshiba.  There is nothing specifically wrong with this drive.

H2T10003272S  Many vendors carry this.
