SLI: Mismatched cards
Hello,
In my R4, I just installed a GTX670, which work great. The dual GTX555 I removed where installed in another computer I have.
Now, from that old computer, I had a Geforce 8800GTX (768mb) which was an of a card few years ago.
I was thinking about mayby using that 8800 in SLI in my R4, and have it decicated for Physx.
I know that in the past, we could not put 2 differents card in SLI. Is it still the case? If i can use mismatched cards, will i gain some performance with this setup for games that use Physx?
I know there's very few game that use physx, it's just that I have this card that wont do anything, so if I could put it to good use :)
Thanks!

I wouldn't. The 670 has plenty of extra power to run PhysX (when needed). Having only one card provides better cooling in an Aurora.

well sli and physics card arent same .. the 670 has the power do do what it needs but it cant be sli'ed with any other card cept a 670.. and probably a dell oem only at that (see forums for issues with store brand and oem cards)
you can run it as a dedicated physics card tho which dont require sli but again why would you want to add the heat form the 8800 in the system :( for minimal increase if any for the most part

I agree with you guys. It's not worth the extra heat and the 670 is plenty enough without it.
