Setting up Intel SRT on m14 R2

Hi Guys,

So here's what I'm trying to do.

I have a 60gb mSATA SSD + 500gb HDD. I want to use the SSD as a caching drive for my HDD. Nothing too complicated right?

And I wanted to do this with a clean install on my computer. So I followed the steps at this link:

http://www.dell.com/support/troubleshooting/us/en/19/KCS/KcsArticles/ArticleView?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&docid=564442

I get to step 2 in "Reinstalling Windows" and when I try to disable the acceleration option for the SSD in the RAID BIOS, I get a message that says:

"There are no Accelerated Disks/Volumes to display."

What am I doing wrong?

When I have done this, I have never needed to set anything up in the RAID BIOS (OROM Utility). I just used Intel RST in Windows to set it up and it has worked fine every time. You can delete the partitions during Windows setup. Or, you can leave them alone at first and use the Windows Disk Management Utility to delete all of the partitions within Windows. At that point you can set up the caching by going into RST within Windows.

I have run into some issues with the drives disappearing (including the mSATA SSD) when formatted as a GPT disk with Secure Boot enabled, but never any complications set up as an MBR disk with Legacy Boot options. Be sure to set the BIOS to RAID (not AHCI). If you set it to AHCI, sometimes the "Accelerate" option is hidden and you don't have any way to set up SRT.
