Should I Upgrade current X51 R1 system to optimize Oculus DK2 or Just purchase one of the new X51 R2's?
Hello, i have been gaming on the R1 using it also as a simulator computer. I want to take it the next step into full immersion by beginning to use an oculus rift DK2 until the consumer product releases. After much research I found that the recommended specs for using the Rift are NVIDIA GTX 970 / AMD 290 equivalent or greater, Intel i5-4590 equivalent or greater, 8GB+ RAM and also a added powerblock for extra Watts...My X51 R1 does not meet any of them
Would it be better to upgrade my current system (that includes upgrading processor, video card, RAM, and power block for about $720) or just buy one of the newer X51 R2's???
If buying a newer R2 model, which one would meet those needs of running the DK2 the best?
THANKS!
Landon

Hello,
Since you would have to upgrade several major components on this system to use an Oculus rift DK2, it might be best to purchase a newer computer. You can customize your system on the Alienware site. Just go to www.Alienware.com, click on Desktops, then look for the Alienware X51 model and click where it says "Build Yours". This way you can configure the system with all of these requirements. Let me know if you have any questions.
