Super Slow Boot Up Time!!! (17 r3)

Hi! My names Johnny and I've had a problem with my Alienware 17 r3 for about 2 days. 2 days ago I noticed that my start up time was extremely slow, nothing too much to worry about. But I noticed every time I shut down my computer and start it back up, it got progressively worse. The 3rd time, which I just finished after about 2 hours of waiting, I couldn't sign in for the first 45 minutes. One thing to note that I could think is a problem, the alienware that I got only had around 8 gbs of ram so I decided to replace them with 2x 16 gbs of ram. The only problem is that they're not Dell brand. They're Crucial Ballistix and I made sure they were compatible with the Alienware although I'm still not sure if they are the cause.

So let me try to explain everything as detailed as possible. When I start up my computer from a previous shut down, the loading symbol is already skipping frames. After that's all done, it's a black screen for about 5 minutes. Then finally I'm at the start screen which when I try to click something, it lags and after 2 minutes it finally prompts me to login. The inputs for my keyboard are even delayed. I type in my password and the letters show up 45 seconds later, and then it stays at welcome for about 5 minutes. But the first 2 times I tried signing in it said something about unable to sign in due to an invalid thingy. Sorry if that isn't useful but after waiting 5 minutes, may I remind you for 2 times just to sign me out! I was finally able to sign in. I'm then immediately greeted with a 10 minute long black screen. My mouse is visible and I can move it but that's about it. After 10 minutes my desktop background loads in, but none of the shortcuts load up. After about 5 minutes the shortcuts load in and I attempt to open up task manager and you guessed it, that took 3 or 5 minutes to open up. And for some reason my disk is at 97-100% used up. And from the pictures that I took only about .6 or .9 megabytes per second are used!

I did hear that a program called Kionix caused a problem with long startups, I've yet to see if that's the issue for me. I've already disabled it but I fear that when I restart, it won't be able to use my computer in general. And may I include that I ran antivirus scans and antimalware scans too many times to count, and they all show up empty handed. And also one thing to add, after about 30 minutes after the desktop appears, my computer just regains it's speed! As of right now the disk is at 0% when it was at 100 a little while ago. I've searched up to see if anyone else had this problem, but never exceed the wait time of 2 minutes! I'm waiting dozen of minutes just to sign into my computer! Hopefully this was enough information I provided and if I didn't, please just ask me! Thank you.

The disk usage at 100% is a behavior that Microsoft has been working on. You could look into contacting them directly or search in the Microsoft's forums for workarounds. We've seen people disabling some services to get it back to normal, but we can't specifically recommend any of those processes. Please run an ePSA from the F12 menu at bootup, just to make sure the HDD is in good shape before proceeding.

this is a crazy problem and i suggest reformatting and do a fresh installation of windows 10.

the 100% disk usage in windows 10 is due to superfetch, just turn off that service off.

also turn off other service like disk optimization, cortana, search.

Turns out it wasn't kionix. I'm currently waiting for my computer to start up and it's stuck on a blue screen with only a mouse icon. I guess it's all about patience at this point. I'm just asking but did I provide enough information? I feel like I didn't. And also Microsoft didn't fix the 100% disk usage yet? That is very surprising since I had the same problem with my old computer when I updated it to Windows 10. Thanks for replying though! But still no answers, dang. Fresh installing windows 10 will most likely be a last resort.

Please record a video and put it on youtube. Tell us the symptoms, describe the problem in the video so we could get a better picture.

SInce factory resetting my computer didn't do anything i decided to contact Alienware customer support and told me it was something involving my hard drive and the cable connecting it to the motherboard and will be sending a technician to replace it for me. I'll just make this forum post answered.
