UHD on Alpha system?
Anyway attempt to drive a UHD (4k) TV with the Alpha system? I was close to purchase of a new TV, but then discovered they "may" only support HD (1920x1080) for "computer connection". Read some, but seems gotchas in the UHD world.

Right now the alpha is only intended to run on 1920x1080 - There's no telling if they will support it.
However, the new Echo models with the graphics amplifier just might do the trick.

hmmm... the Alpha specs on the Dell website indicate "4K Video Support = Yes" (?) (compared to PS4 and Xbox One, which do not support 4K video).

It probably supports 4k 'video' but not 4k 'gaming' as that would super stress the graphics chip IMHO.

***, I just remembered the Alpha UI will NOT support 4k as it is only 1080p and 720p, however the 'desktop mode' should be fine with it as long as the graphics drivers support it. I know they are a little on the custom side of things but I would google the driver numbers to double check.

Agreed on the "4K gaming"... not really interested in that... 1080P for games is just fine (for now :-)). But, was thinking a 4K (UHD - 3840x2160) Win8.1 desktop would be really (really) nice as a workspace on a 55" UHD TV, internet exployer usage, those kind of things).

The Echo Models are the new line of Alienware laptops: Echo 13, 15 and 17.
That way we can tell them apart from the 14, 17 and 18 models.
