Upgrading Aurora R5 with optical drive need front panel and correct blu ray drive part number and ordering instructions

Are these components available for purchase if you want to upgrade your R5 to include an optical drive?

5R87K = Front bezel with ODD
8R0PF = Front bezel with ODD + latch

What about PVM4X = Blu-ray drive?

Thanks for the response but it does me no good to buy the Blu-Ray drive if the front panel is not available for purchase. My R5 didn't come with a optical drive so the front bezel does not have the space for an optical drive. So that's why I asked if either one of these front bezels were available for purchase, as they support an internal optical drive.

Hi klutch501,

Just wondering did you get a response to your question from Dell/Alienware.

I am in the same situation. Bought second top of the line Aurora R5 and then realised it has no optical drive, no biggy I thought. I will upgrade with an optical drive I have spare but then noticed the front panel had no slot for the drive.

Would be great to hear if you got sorted and what option was available.

Cheers,

G

PJX5J = Front bezel without ODD (optical disk drive)

5R87K = Front bezel with ODD

8R0PF = Front bezel with ODD + latch

Unfortunately, none are available for sale.

Your best bet right now is to purchase a USB 3.0 or 3.1 external drive.

After weeks of slowly gathering parts from Dell, I thought I had all the hardware needed to install an Optical Drive into my Aurora R5.

- PJX5J (Front bezel without ODD)

- ODD

- Cables

- With the Latch, I'm assuming it's the front Bezel for the ODD, which I also have.

Thinking that I had everything, I took my R5 apart only to find out that there is a part still missing. There appears to be some kind of a metal piece that the ODD slides into in the computer case, which is missing. Anyone have any idea of it's part number, and/or what it's called?

Actually I do have the front bezrl WITH the hole to install ODD, we could make a change, because I have bought a barebone chassis and do not need ODD, what I need is aesthetic front panel without any holes on it)

hi, how are you planning to install ODD in the front bezel without an inlet for ODD?
