Upgrading RAM in Alienware Area 51
Hi everyone, I have lately been doing lots of 3D modeling and such and my RAM has constantly been at 90%+ to the point that everything on the computer will crash every so often so I decided I should upgrade my RAM. To my understanding, the RAM in the computer is 8GB Dual Channel DDR4 at 2133MHz.
Would this RAM work? I was told DIMM and DDR4 are the same thing but I am not sure as I can't find the info anywhere online.

Hi,
Variants of DIMM (dual in-line memory module) slots support DDR, DDR2, DDR3 and DDR4 RAM. The RAM you are inquiring about appears to meet the requirements, it should work.

So the other day I had this arrive www.newegg.ca/.../Product.aspx and when I went to put it in to the computer, there was no beeping so the computer did sensor the RAM being in properly and such, bu the screens remained black. Would I need to change the BIOS settings or install anything for it to run? Im wanting to make sure before I return it to the company and buy the quad channels I inquired about above

No, you shouldn't have to change any settings in the Bios for this work. If you have another computer, try to test the RAM modules with that system to confirm if the same thing happens.
