This solution does not work.  Tablet mode is off, but popup keyboard still persists.

I can confirm this solved the issue. No more virtual keyboard!

Glad to help. Still need a permanent fix for this. Hopefully they add an option to disable this. After restarting the keyboard just returns, even with it set to manual in Services

I have just purchased my Alienware Alpha, and I am so annoyed with the virtual keyboard continuously popping up that I am considering returning the unit. I am begging you please for the love of the Alien - fix this!!! The is utterly ridicules and you should be ashamed for making your customers have to put up with this so long.

Also please configure a way where we can boot straight to Windows instead of into the Alienware Alpha UI.

Thank you

So, what is the deal Rodrigo? Is Dell working on a fix for this?  Having to disable the hivemind interface every time is NOT an acceptable solution.  I didn't pay a thousand bucks for the Alpha to have no customer support.

Tried disabling "The Hivemind Interface" in Services as suggested below, but for me on reboot that messes up the Hivemind power button menu - instead of "Go to Desktop" it just says "Exit" and then black screen, requiring ctrl-alt-delete to log out then log back in to Windows to get to desktop.

The only functioning workaround (and that's all it is), is to open Task Manager and find HiveMindMonitor, right-click and end task. Then goodbye onscreen keyboard and ghost joystick in upper right corner.

A proper fix for this would be very highly appreciated.

I had the same problem after disabling the Hivemind interface service, but I have not noticed any other side effects since disabling it. I don't mind ctrl/alt/del to log out for the time being, but a fix would be great!

The work around for the 'Exit' displaying in Hivemind instead of 'Go To Desktop' is to just open any of the apps in hivemind, and then go back to the home screen before selecting 'Go To Desktop'

Thanks for the method which worked but created another problem.

When I rebooted I no longer had an option to go to Desktop Mode!

Normally I use the power button symbol to bring up a list of options to select Desktop when I boot.

When I first got the new interface this morning  the option was there. However, when I turned off the service as you suggested and rebooted I no longer had the option.

I got around the issue (I think because I cant exactly recall just now) by doing a CTRL-ALT-DEL and selecting log in as a different user which allowed me to log in again and turn the service back on.

So for now I will just use the temporary measure:

"Goto task manager and look for Hivemind monitor then click to end process"

Considering I only use Desktop mode I might just follow this suggestion:

"Check the box for “Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer".

@turnitoffandon, I had the same problem of no "desktop" option, and the option was given two posts before of "just open any of the apps in hivemind, and then go back to the home screen before selecting 'Go To Desktop'".

All of this underscores that there is still no real solution, just workarounds that create other issues of their own. Still waiting patiently for Alienware to figure it out.

Thanks for the additional tip. I think for now I'll just turn it off in Task Manager each time I boot, and like yourself and others wait patiently until its resolved. I actually work in software myself and understand that something's are a bugger to fix ...
