What's the current bios version for R4 ALX?

I've got some issues with the ambient sensors either reading 0'c on two or three of the sensors, or it reading 65'c on one only. I've uninstalled and reinstalled CC but to no help. All diagnostics tests pass. My current bios is A03, but depending on where you look in the support area, it says A03 or A07. Any idea?

Thanks. I'll leave it as is. I usually don't worry but there are a lot of posts about bricked mobi's doing it so was just wondering.

Hi Spetz02,

I request you to use the below link and input the service tag. Select BIOS and download it. The available version on Dell support site is A07 version:

http://dell.to/QjjZDA

This BIOS version fixes the OC settings which was manually not getting adjusted by end user in Bios A06 version.

If this doesn’t fix the issue that the computer is currently having I request you to give more information about the issue so that I can assist you.

If you have further questions do reply on the same post.

Thanks. I reinstalled CC again and then unplugged and drained the power..seems to work now for the sensors.

As for the bios update, is it needed or should I leave it at A03? Is there a change log available?

Looking through my original post, it seems I was asking two unrelated questions..what I meant to ask was does the new bios change anything with the MIO that could help the sensors? They are working again so am wondering if I need to update the bios if its not really needed at this point.

It's whatever it says it is. The File Area is not in really good shape these days (you might get different answers to various queries). There is also the FTP site:

If it's not broken, don't fix it.

Only flash BIOS while talking with Dell Phone Support. That way, when it bricks itself, you can get a free replacement motherboard.

Cool. Ya, it's pretty easy to brick them so you should really have a reason to even try.

I think A07 might be the latest, but not sure it's the best. Haven't seen real BIOS change-logs in a long time.

MIO-Board firmware updates come with Command Center.

I now go a step furture when the bios gets updated. I let the tech get into my computer and him/her do it. I had a situation with another computer brand where I was on the phone with tech support and was advised to update the bios. I followed the instructions step by step, but something went wrong and the motherboard was bricked. They said it was my fault so that voided the warranty and I would have to pay for all repairs. I have only bought dell and Alienware since that time.
