Windows 8 AlienFX Problem

Hello,

I own an Alienware M14X R1 and I have recently upgraded to Windows 8 PRO (I know that R1 isn't officially supported). The problem is that the lights are stuck as I left them when I was upgrading. I cannot change the light colors or close the lights from the command center(the eyes of the alien in the taskbar are always red). After a while it gives an error that the hardware and software could not communicate. I have re-installed Command Center 2.8.8.0 and drivers several times and it doesn't fix the problem. Windows 8 comes with .NET 4.0 pre-installed so that isn't the problem either.  Also when I go in the Alienware Command Center folder and run the AlienwareFX Tester the computer changes the colors, that is the only way I'm able to change colors.

What can I do to fix this problem?

Do I have to reinstall windows all over again?

Thank You

You might try Network Framework 3.5

Since the Alien-FX circuit responds to the AlienwareFXTester.exe that means:

1. Alien-FX circuit isn't "bricked" (which is good).

2. .Net 4.0 is fine.

Try "clean installing" latest Command Center for Laptops. That's Uninstall, Reboot, Install, Reboot , Test Operation.

If that doesn't work, you might have to re-install Windows 8 ... clean install from scratch. Follow Win-7 instructions and install drivers in proper order. CC install is towards the end of whole procedure.

I had the same problem with the X51.  I updated to Command Center 2.8.11.0 or something like that.  I had to download the logitech software as it was part of that.  Here is the link.

Another confirmation that upgrading to 2.8.11.0 from the TactX drivers bundle fixes the issue for the X51 under Windows 8.
