X51 R2 graphics card upgrade

Hi all.

I am a complete computer novice (which is why I bought an alienware instead of trying to build anything myself) and I've never before upgraded a part in my computer so I just wanted to confirm some things before i make a purchase.

I currently have the alienware x51 r2, as you know the case is much smaller than standard computer cases. It currently uses a gtx 760 with 1.5 gb. The card I'm looking at the most is the GTX 970 with 4 gb. It's in the right price range for me and at 9.5 inches it seems like a good size. The 980 i heard does not fit in this machine.

The model of my power brick says DA330PM111 so im assuming it's 330 watts.Assuming the 970 card is good for this computer,  Is this enough for the 970 card or would I have to purchase a new power brick? Is there anything else I need to be made aware of before I buy the card?

Thanks in advance for any answers!

Hi,

We do not support the GTX 970 as a GPU upgrade option for the Alienware X51 R2 system. Therefore, we cannot confirm if the card will function properly with the system. The NVidia GeForce GTX 960 is the highest NVidia GPU upgrade that we can support for this system.
