X51 a good college computer?

In two years I graduate from high school and go to college. I plan on majoring in law enforcement/ criminal justice. Is the x51 a good computer for that major?

If you switch law enforcement/ criminal justice to playing games and messing around, then yes its perfect for that field.

But really, any computer would be fine for that field.

guitarguy19027,

The only negative is portability. For college, you need a laptop to move from class to class. Many teachers give you the ability to log into their server and turn in classwork, do the actual work in class, etc. The X51 would be locked up in your dorm room. I would invest in both.

X51 was designed with the limited space of a dorm room in mind..

Chris has a point, I would definitely think on getting the x51 for the dorm because it is small but also you'll need something to carry around with you. In this case the m14x could be a very good option. :)

My niece is going to UNT next year. I bought her the Inspiron 14z (N411z).

Windows 7 Home Premium
6GB DDR3 ram
1TB hard disk drive
8x DVD+/-RW drive
Onboard audio, NIC, wireless
2 year standard warranty
2 year complete care warranty (for liquid spills, dropping the laptop, etc.)

I did not order Office. I loaded the free version of OpenOffice. I removed McaFee antivirus and loaded avast.

Your niece should be able to  purchase Windows Office w Outlook and Powerpoint from the UNT Bookstore for a minimum price. ( $15.00 at UT). It's the best deal out there. Really should be FREE for all those tuition $$$$.
