X51 stuck on splash screen

I recently had to replace the motherboard on my son's X51 because the old one failed. After installing the new one, I now have another problem. It stays stuck on the Alienware splash screen (progress bar does not progress).

I can hit F2 or F12 and it highlights but nothing happens after. If I hit no keys then after a while a single underscore is displayed on the screen and nothing else.

I opened it back up and all the connections seem fine. I also unhooked all external cables (including power cord) and held power button down for 30 seconds. The BIOS version of the new board is A03 if that matters.

Thanks

You can try with one memory at the time and if it doesn't work there could be a problem with motherboard, it could be dead on arrival.

I give out this same advice because it fixed mine when I got stuck on the logo screen; sometimes it helps, sometimes not. Go into bios, make sure ahci (your sata controller, advanced host controller interface) is enabled. (Sata hard drive won't boot up if ahci mode is disabled). Good luck, hope it helps.

Edit: F8 might bring up advanced windows features, like "last known good configuration" & "safe mode". delete might bring up the bios screen. Insert/boot from your windows dvd for "repair my computer" "startup issues". Try installing windows fresh on a spare drive to check things out.

I tried the memory but no luck. This weekend I will try taking it all apart again and triple-check that I didn't leave anything loose.

Unfortunately, I can't go into the BIOS. It hangs before that point. The best I can do is get F2 or F12 to highlight.

Were you able to fix those? I'm on the same situation.  My X51 was working fine, I just rebooted it and it got stuck at Bios (A08).  There's no access to setup (F2 and F12 just highlight but no further action).
