alienware 15 mini display port ?

ok so i just bought an Alienware 15 in Singapore, after watch a lot of reviews video and unboxing i realize that the 15 has a MINI DISPLAY PORT on the back near the HDMI port

so decide to buy and alienware 15 with gtx 970m card and then i realize my laptop does have the MINIDISPLAY PORT in the back ????????? i use the MDPort for my benq monitor so i can play game with 144hz refresh rate. i called dell support and they suggest me i can use the USB-C port ( thunder bolt ?)

as a Mini display port, can any one help me to comf that this port and give out 144hz rate if i manage to find a adapter from USB-C to Display port, otherwise so dissapointed with dell ...

Hi,

Just to confirm, are you saying that the Alienware 15 that you bought does not have a Mini DisplayPort Connector? As per the System Specifications manual, there should be a Mini Displayport on the back.

yes comfirmed, on the back only has the HDMI and the one to use the VGA adapter, i called DELL singapore to check on this and they say i can use the USB-C/ Thunderbolt port as a MINI DISPLAY port, this is so un comfortable

If you have the 15 R1 (Haswell processor, 4000 series), then you can use a miniDP to VGA. I assume by "the one to use the VGA adapter", you mean the mini Display port (square looking port). However, you will not get 144 HZ.

If you have the 15 R2 (Skylake processor, 6000 series), a list of adapters from Belkin for USB c to some other port are here (you can also find them on Google Store). That said, it's not guaranteed that you'll get 144 HZ as it hasn't been tested. However, USB C / TB3 can act as a Display Port, among other uses.

In other words, you may not get 144 Hz.

Ok it's a little difficult. The AW 15 R1 has a mini DP connector on back, the R2 doesn't have. The DP Port is conected to the integrated Intel graphic card that passes through the signal of GTX9XXM. So the bandwidth is related to the intel HD 4600. It supports WQHD by 120p hz. Is the integrated Graphic HD 530 of R2 also conected to the usb type C it also depends on it wich resolution and refresh rates are supported. but probably its is supported because that intel cpu is created for 4k sampling and should prepared for todays grafic features.
