hi thanks for the reply I'm just about to start my 99'th clean install ! hoping to get those lights to work and fix that USB error . I'm not going to use the resource disc I'll go to the Dell driver down load site . just one thing when you enter your tag number and it checks it . the list it comes up with is for drivers is massive ? and it becomes confusioning which one to load ? also I thought I saw somewhere in your posts you said to try a clean install but to disconnect the MIO-board ? when should I connect it back up ?
When you go to the File Library and insert your service tag number, there are two options you can choose under Drivers found: Filtered driver results for your service tag (8 files) All related drivers for your Product (82 files)
hi thanks for that info the install has just finished I haven't installed any drivers yet I'm letting windows update first but only the important ones the MIO-board is still unplugged ? as soon as windows finish's I'll go to Dell ! will it load them in the right order ?
hi Chris i`v gone to the Drivers and Downloads at the UK dell site and gone to Analyze System for Service Tag clicked agreed and after analiyzing it only has one in the file Broadcom 57XX Gigabit Integrated Controller the othe six are from a previous install i did and that i never used. dose that mean thats it or am i doing something wrong . i could`nt find the 8 you mentioned ? . need your help !! windows has just about finished with all its updates so i was going to start installing Dell`s drivers .
again thanks very much for all your advise I'm very new to alienware pc's and completely out of my depth .windows is just finishing the last few updates then I'll start the drivers . trouble is as I said to Chris in my last reply to him after it checks my system it only says I have one in my file and there's over 80 others . iv got this far with the install and I think it's going great so far and it's the next part (Drivers) where it all go's wrong which one of the 86 drivers and the order
Yes, MIO-Board is not detected. Motherboard can't find it.
It's either locked up, damaged, or there is a cable problem. Slight chance USB port header on motherboard is blown, but that's easy enough to test if you know how to work on PCs.
ran the diagnostic tool that checks your system before windows boots up.
the only fault or error it came up with was
Devise Initialization error Code 5D00:0009
Pretty sure that error means it can't find the MIO-Board. Did you see tests listed for MIO-Board (and lights, fans, etc.).
The clear lights for back ports are always on I think. Only discuss colored LEDs on front and sides. Also, "working" is not the same as "just happen to be on".
What exact Aurora model, Intel processor installed, and are you under warranty?
Hi again sorry I’ve taken so long to get back to all of you but I’ve only just got home I’ve been in hospital all this time . Anyway back to my problem with my Aurora! The reinstall of windows was fine I installed all the new drivers from the internet from the Dell site and I believe in the right order. And also plugged in the MIO-board last then loaded then software. I also ran the diagnostic tool that checks your system before windows boots up. And the only fault or error it came up with was
Devise Initialization error Code 5D00:0009
Reattach unit on root hub port 1 & restart test. I have no idea what any of that means. I didn’t have anything detached? as before the Aurora seems to be working fine .the only things that aren’t working are the command centre and one unknown USB devise in devise manager which I can’t seem to fix .I did wonder if that was the port 1 error ?I know there is power going to the MIO-board because the orang light comes on . I forgot to mention none of the LED lights still work expect the ones on the back of the unit
god that was fast ! I ran that test from the resources disk F12 boot from disk ! tried to burn it onto CD and DVD but couldn't and also couldn't load it on to a memory stick kept saying the stick had to much memory ? 8GB and to use one with 2 I think ? . i ran every test one by one and they all past just that one error ! and USB port 1 which you can see in devise manager . i don't even know which one and where port 1 is . plus like I mentioned the orange light on the board is on so it's working . iv tried software like driver magician and driver booster to fix the USB fault both failed . like I said everything seems to be running fine even the fans past you could hear them rev up in the test . do you think the USB port 1 fault is connected to the board fault ? and what could be stopping it finding the board ? . I wouldn't be bothered so much but I bought the aurora because I liked the changing lights and so did my five year old boy ! my service tag number is 2xv6m4j I think ? it would be easry for you to check my aurora I wouldn't know where to go or what you wanted to know . and no it's not got any warranty !!
im totally over my head when it comes to computers any help every much welcome !
thanks for your help I had a look at that link and yes it's sounds a lot like my problem but as I mentioned in my last reply my what I know about computers would fit on a grain of sand !

In Dell Diagnostics (outside of Windows) MIO-Board must be detected and be available for testing before you can proceed to get it to work in Windows.
Things can go from bad to worse fast if working inside computer without proper skills. I suggest you ask a friend that knows computers or seek professional help (certified PC tech). Point them to this thread (and it's links).

Reconnect MIO-Board toward the end. It says when (after drivers but before Command Center is installed)

If you can't decide which Drivers are correct, Dell's picks might be close enough.
