alienware m14x sound problem....
hi guys, i bought my alienware m14x at 24th july 2011, it worked fine. for my personal benefit one day i formatted the device, and reinstall the OS with all this drivers. After that someday later when playing music suddenly a sound "chhick" generated from the laptop. after then the sound output of the laptop is very low at default settings, i have to make custom settings to generate high sound, otherwise the speaker sound very very low. i uninstalled the driver and reinstalled the sound drivers but still the problem remains same. Very low sound at default settings, but i never changed the settings from start of the laptop. I don't know what is the reason behind this problem. Is it any hardware or Software problem i don't know. Can anybody tell me the reason of this problem & how to solve it. i want my previous awesome sound quality from alienware m14x.

Is the sound through your headphone jack the same or lower? Can you try reinstalling the Chipset driver, restarting, then reinstalling the audio driver?

when the first time the problem occurs the headphone sound quality also dropped, at that time sound was like i'm playing music from any broken headphones, but in reality they are not.
not they seems have no problem except laptop's klipsch speakers.
i installed audio drivers in windows 7 but not any benefit.
i also installed windows 8 release preview to see if arises the same problem. but still the problems remain. i don't know is klipsch speakers broken or other problem
may be i try to install the chipset driver and follow your tips again.

i had the same problem with my alienware. At first, i thought the speaker broke down or something. I called the dell support, they did some test through the phone and said that the speaker is broken... they sent me another brand new alienware... and the same thing repeat.
