Hi ubergam3r,

Yes as you said TactX Mouse and Keyboard carries one year warranty from the date of purchase.

Refer the following link for troubleshooting:

http://dell.to/16wOumg

You may also uninstall and reinstall the Alienware TactX Keyboard and Mouse Driver:

http://dell.to/16wQhrJ

You may also use  Alienware Drivers and Utilities disc to install Alienware TactX™ Keyboard/Mouse CI (Control Interface):

Insert the Alienware Drivers and Utilities disc into the optical drive, and install the Alienware TactX™ keyboard/Mouse CI (Control Interface) and AlienFX™ software.

Let me know how it goes.

Sadly my friend, you are not alone... the TactX mouse has that problem and has had it since the beginning... just search on this forum itself for tactx and you'll find TONS of posts that say they have the exact same problem... here's one for example:

http://en.community.dell.com/owners-club/alienware/f/3746/t/19465443.aspx

The other thing i did find, and which actually did help my mouse live a couple of months longer, is the following YouTube DIY video:

However, don't hold your breath, and don't spend any more money/don't buy another Alienware TactX mouse unless you're prepared to re-pay that same amount every 12 to 14 months.

I know it stinks having an alienware rig without the matching keyboard and mouse, but Microsoft offers some VERY good gaming mouse options that trump the competition and last 10 times longer for half the price...
