ethernet/internet

I don t know what happened or how. Yesterday my ethernet was fine. now i m getting this message

Ethernet doesn’t have a valid IP configuration. I have tried EVERYTHING with no success. It s showing as being connected.. and yet i can t get an ip address. The internet on my other computer is working fine( as you can see) I suspect it is a hardware problem and not a software problem. I have an Aurora R6 Desktop.

Hi ashone‌,

First you can try a system restore back to a point before this started.

Try a power cycle of the router and modem: disconnect both for around 20 seconds and then plug them back. After the power cycle, you can follow all the steps on this link:

Fix: Wi-Fi doesn't have valid IP configuration on Windows 10 (this one is for WiFi but it should also work for Ethernet)

It was already wired. Neither wifi or Ethernet work. Tried restore to a

previous point. No luck

First, disconnect from WiFi AccessPoint. Then, try using a real wire and not WiFi.

Keep it disconnected from WiFi AccessPoint.

Keep it on a real wire.

1. Is a device in Device Manager in error?

2. When you connect the cable, do the led-lights on the Aurora-R6's ethernet port and also the router-port turn on?

3. Have you tried a different cable?

4. Try another wired computer in this location with this same cable. Result?

Yeah, it happens (but not often). I too prefer a hard-wired connection when possible.

You are welcome. Enjoy your new computer.

You lost me.

I thought you got in working. Is the Ethernet port on the Aurora-R6 working now or not?

I thought it would work too. I tried a new cable. I am getting a new

message, with the overall same result only now it's showing neither ethernet

or Bluetooth is operational. Every thing else however .. is working.

OK, one more time.

If you install a different (working) computer in the same location

with it's WiFi turned OFF.

Connect the best (new?) ethernet cable and reboot.

DOES IT WORK? Can you access the Internet and your network?

i have tested the new cable on my other computer. The wifi works but I am

getting no joy via the ethernet. Could this be a modem problem?

okay maybe i am missing something here..  it worked when using the cable from the other computer or you tried cable from alienware on  other computer... ?  if so have you tried with other computer  disconnected again.. almost seems like the router/modem is locked down or not broadcasting a dhcp,   but only allowing  1 system,  try just the alienware on its own or such..

its odd that both wired and wireless would have issues  unless ipv4 is set to manual instead of dhcp auto

That's what I'm trying to find out ...

This is the last time I will ask this question. Please do exactly this and then answer the question I asked ... or I will have to stop posting in this thread.

Not a modem problem. It is now  been tested  by thw repair shop and duly admitted into the repair shop for a muliple night stay
