top vents

my top vents click and pop on reaching full open or full close, annoying, but, wondering IF it could turn into something fatal. Area51, about 18 months old, I went in to temp control and set vents to full open all the time, but, they still open and close on startup or shutdown? any way to disable the movement or limits I can adjust?
