Irishlad147,

"Remember, this PSU was developed to power Dells gaming laptops, not the Alienware X51."
The 330w power supply was validated to run the Dell hardware we ship on the X51. The issues you are seeing are when non-Dell hardware is added.

Your best bet is to propose this idea on the Dell IdeaStorm. http://bit.ly/y6VM

If you follow the link above and get enough votes on your idea it might actually come true.

No problem Gary, we are here to support customers and I know that this is a good option/request. You can also use this thread to post the idea once it's done to get more votes.

I love my x51 and definitely would get the new PSU as soon as is launched. I think at least a minimum 500w is required although having a 800w would be a better and safer choice!.

That would also allow Dell to release Motherboard and GPU upgrades that users need to make this sleek and nice looking Desktop the machine of their dreams. I got mine with 240w and immediately bought the 330w one in order to install the GTX 660TI graphic card.

Come on Dell... I have bought a lot of Desktop and PCs from Dell in the last 10 years, do not disappoint with the x51!!!. There are a lot of Alienware users looking forward to it.

mmm 1000 USD?, I can buy the next gen x51 with that... see guys, support the IdeaStorm idea and you might even get 1000 from Tempgum!.

Man, I think some people (specially rich ones) would definitely go and buy the GTX 690 and put it in the x51 (wonder how they will manage the heat production).

The bigger psu makes sense all round - makes new models of the x51 hard to resist both for pc gamers wanting an under the tele option as well as drawing in console gamers who certainly must have the 7 year itch with the now outdated m and s offerings.

It also helps the current user base (us!) to continue to upgrade. And that's only going to be good in terms of loyalty.

I'm loving my x51 :). Will certainly vote on the link - thanks Chris!

I'm going to try to vote for your idea on ideastorm, I want to upgrade my X51.

I've voted on ideastorm. it's a shame that a PC which is advertised that upgrading is not only supported but encouraged that we are hamstrung by a LAPTOP psu. A new psu would be ideal, Dell.
