Can you please provide more information? What is your Alienware system model name? How are you trying to restore to factory settings? Are you using a recovery partition or a you using the recovery media? Do you get an error message or what exactly happens?
model X51 R2 service tag Its not under warranty any longer.I've had almost 3 years and this is the first time I've had this issue
Uhmm, basically the monitor will tell me its going into power save mode.It happens after a screen refresh. As in when I play a game and it loads for the next round. there is a fade to black, and then it won't ' relaunch the screenAn online guy said that I lagged out, so the modem and internet were still functioning and the light on the cpu stays on.Sometime it will enter power save mode during the launching of the game(s) or going to a new website. (causing a screen refresh)Although, it happens less often when surfing the net. (I have 60mPS)I used the Alienware thing to do the reset. I believe. Which ever one is a step under than if you going to recycle or donate it option.
Now I want to totally wipe the system (aka, driver files and all that). Before I start to trouble shoot hardware. It errors out when it is "getting some thing ready" or what not. Before the cleanse.I assume the error, making it go to power save mode, is also not letting me complete this stage either.
I have tried maxing power or minimal power setting, lowering resolution, monitor to not sleep, having a fan blow onto the heat shield. (I hear the gpu fan running)so, I'm kinda lost at this point.Hoping its just a cord or something.

Also, I just tried again, and I received an error stating that starcraft2 cannot access graphics hardware.
