x51 boot issue
so last night i shut down my alienware x51 pc normally through windows. Woke up today and tried to turn it on but it wont boot past the bios splash screen, comes up to alien head and f2 for setup f12 for boot options but if you press f2 or f12 it hangs, can restart only to same option again, f8 does nothing during restart, nor does ctrl f11, or f2, or f12, cant even access safe mode, bios options or boot from cd, fun.

was able to resolve the issue with a service tech dispatched after calling 1800 alienware, my first intuitive guess was correct though the motherboard was shot.

Ouch. Try unplugging it, hold the power button for 10sec and then plug it back in and see if it will start. You should unplug everything but the mouse, keyboard and monitor when you try booting it.

yeah no go, oh well prolly have to call a tech on this one, my guess is motherboard
